On January 26, 2007 The California Walnut
Marketing Board announced the 2006 California Walnut inventory.
2006 Orchard Run Production - 343,844 tons (688
million pounds)
2006 C.A.S.S. (California Agricultural Statistics) - 350,000

of 39,056,000 from 2005)
2005 Inshell Walnut Inventory - 57,428,000 tons
If you were to add the gain of 16,403,5220 inshell product
to the shelling pool the result is 143,539,520 total inshell.
The total supply of walnuts to be sold would be 9% less than
in Jan 2005.
Bottom Line |
We expect rising markets and short supplies
for the rest of the 2006 crop year.
You can expect an increase in price for LHP (Light Halves
and Pieces) to the $2.89 range. Currently CHP (Combination
Halves and Pieces) are at the $2.65 range, but we are predicting
more price pressure.
